My ideas tend to improve a lot when challenged, so avoiding an echo chamber is an intentional thing I pursue. The website therefore needed a place for disagreement.
There are dozens of projects that could do this, but they all felt over-engineerd, bloated and costly for a simple discussion section. I felt like asking Codex to build something from scratch would not be the right solution, because these projects were years in the making and had proven themselves. Still, I wondered if building ourselves was actually simpeler. It returned a solution with no database and no moving parts. It made me question when complexity is actually justified.
Key insight - Complexity is my strategy to postpone
Increasing the complexity helps me postponing a feeling I am not ahead of the curve. However I justify it by framing it as the responsible thing to do. I am more afraid of being wrong quickly, than of being slow. AI usage shows that perfection was never required if you iterate fast. So the protective complexity was just a method to protect my identity as being ahead of the curve.
